I've read Whatever, Atomized/TEP, Submission, Platform and one other book I cant recall the name of. I think I have Lanzarote and Interventions left. And that untranslated french one beginning with A.
I have enjoyed this cute twinks writings but i don't understand why he is so popular. i feel like i could write this shit, and i CANT WRITE. i looked on le reddit, on /r/menwritingwomen, and they're right. he writes women like shit.
some redscare prick said he's a 'romantic larping as a nihilist'.. spot on. Again, Red scare lad hit the nail on the head: Ghislaine-butt gf gets murdered by islamists but the whole book focuses on unimportant shite.
i am a male islamophobe and i like to frick women and i guess id pay for prostitutes if i were so inclined.
how is this french cute twink so famous?
I guess I'm just am amazing writer and I've never realized it, it's so beneath me.

Whatever and The Elementary Particles were his earliest works and his only seriously intellectual and expressive works. Lanzarote was a massive dud and p-do apologia. After Lanzarote was a failure and Houellebecq realized he couldn't replicate the honesty and meaningfulness of his early work he started picking various semi-political perspectives and spinning out decent books from them. The only partial exception to this has been The Possibility of an Island where Houllebecq tries to create a more drastic version of The Elementary Particles but loses character relatability in the more drastic rehash. I'm excited for the untranslated one, it has the promise to be a more personal account about his experience in old age as his best work was really about his failure to thrive in youth.
I love everything Houllebecq has written but nothing compares to Whatever and The Elementary Particles and Houllebecq should not be characterized too much by his later work. If anything, Houllebecq is to Nietzscheanism what agnosticism is to religious faith.
Houellebecq's prose is not overly complex. especially in translation. It does flow well and has amazing delivery of his dry humor. I think Houellebecq writes and edits passages in the same way that many people do but he has clearly put massive effort into the quality of his writing and into each book he has published (except Lanzarote). One can also argue that normal writing helps him satirize the lives of average people .
