Just finished my first horror novel, Pet Sematary, and really *really* liked it. I'd love to know any recommendations my dear dramanauts may have :marseyloveyou:

Anything suspenseful, mysterious, and a bit creepy would be perfect!!

The last 75 or so pages had my heart feeling like it was about to beat out of my chest, I have never before felt that level of fear for such a prolonged period of time; it was like the feeling right after a near miss on the road, only it kept going. It was incredible and completely got me hooked on horror novels.

Well that author put out about 2 books a year since the 90s so you're in luck if you want more. Maybe give IT a try. The unabridged version.

I've tacked on most of King's higher rated novel to my wish list, I'm juggling between IT and the Shining for what to dive into next.

Are most of king's books similar in quality and atmosphere to Pet Sematary? I find I'm a little suspicious of authors who publish lots lol.

I dunno about a similar atmostphere, but I've always had a soft spot for Needful Things, and it remains my favorite King novel. Simple, and perfectly executed.

No, you really want to stick to his substance abuse era - anything in The Shining to Pet Sematary range

The Shining is my favorite of his so I would vote for that

Pet cemetery is one of like 3 of his books i haven't read. If you have the time and patience IT is the better book. Its huge and takes forever but it's very much worth it.

I'd say he has a very good success rate, yes, though I haven't read any of his newer books. I got hooked with Carrie, his first, and I'd recommend that very highly.

Just work your way through chronologically.

Just finished It. Really good book, even as a non-horror novel, just wish it didn't feel so rushed at the end. Thank you for the recommendation Mr. Reagan! :marseysaluteusa:

You're welcome, just as an fyi he doesn't have a single good ending in any of his books. Eventually you just learn to get over it.
