Yep, 1989 was the absolute peak of Japanese economic power, which is exactly why books like this we're being written. Of course, the free money era ending and 3 decades of completely flat economic growth and a depressed economy destroying entire generations came immediately after.

I'm more interested in the analysis of power politics in Japan from this. I know prefecture governments apparently have a massive amount of power in what they regulate in their areas of control. I'm looking forward to reading it.
