After years of trying to avoid ereaders the price and availability of books in leafland finally broke me. Got the kindle basic and I'm going to fill it with pirated legally obtained books.
Gotta say I'm impressed, the screen is super easy on the eyes. What ereaders do you guys use? And where do you get your books?

I have a 2015 model Kindle Paperwhite which I got as a gift back in 2017. 7 years and it still works perfectly, very durable product.
I get my books on archive.org, guttenberg and the Amazon store (I tried Kindle unlimited once but didn't like the catalogue and I typically buy the books which I can't find a free epub).

Does the paperwhite do manga? I could see myself splurging on a reader that does if I end up actually using my kindle

As long as it's in a standard format it will. It won't have colour pages though since eink is greyscale only.

There are colour einks out there. Supposedly the con is that the screen is a bit grainier. Could be a good option though.

It's a (series of) piracy/direct download sites for books. Very comprehensive.
