In my book, Aegon and Helaena have three children, not two. The twins, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera, are six years old. They have a younger brother, Maelor, who is two. When Blood and Cheese break in on Helaena and the kids, they tell her they are debt collectors come to exact revenge for the death of Prince Lucerys: a son for a son. As Helaena has two sons, however, they demand that she choose which one should die. She resists and offers her own life instead, but the killers insist it has to be a son. If she does not name one, they will kill all three of the children. To save the life of the twins, Helaena names Maelor. But Blood kills the older boy, Jaehaerys, instead, while Cheese tells little Maelor that his mother wanted him dead. (Whether the boy is old enough to understand that is not at all certain).
First he criticizes the Blood & Cheese scene and the lack of Maelor.
When Ryan Condal first told me what he meant to do, ages ago (back in 2022, might be) I argued against it, for all these reasons. I did not argue long, or with much heat, however. The change weakened the sequence, I felt, but only a bit. And Ryan had what seemed to be practical reasons for it; they did not want to deal with casting another child, especially a two-year old toddler. Kids that young will inevitably slow down production, and there would be budget implications. Budget was already an issue on HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, it made sense to save money wherever we could. Moreover, Ryan assured me that we were not losing Prince Maelor, simply postponing him. Queen Helaena could still give birth to him in season three, presumably after getting with child late in season two. That made sense to me, so I withdrew my objections and acquiesced to the change.
Lmao, they're not gonna include him
Most of you know about the Butterfly Effect, I assume.
Yes, there was a movie with that title a few years back. It's a familiar concept in chaos theory as well. But most science fiction fans were first exposed to the idea in Ray Bradbury's classic time travel story, "A Sound of Thunder," wherein a time traveler from the present panics and crushes a butterfly while hunting a T-Rex. When he returns to his own time, he discovers that the world has changed in huge and frightening ways. One dead butterfly has rewritten history. The lesson being that change begets change, and even small and seemingly insignificant alterations to a timeline — or a story — can have a profound effect on all that follows.
More over
The butterflies are not done with us yet, however. In the book, when word of Prince Maelor's death and the grisly manner of his passing (pp. 505) reaches the Red Keep, that proves to be the thing that drives Queen Helaena to suicide. She could barely stand to look at Maelor, knowing that she chose him to die in the "Sophie's Choice" scene… and now he is dead in truth, her words having come true. The grief and guilt are too much for her to bear.
In Ryan's outline for season 3, Helaena still kills herself… for no particular reason. There is no fresh horror, no triggering event to overwhelm the fragile young queen.
LMAO, it's even more over on season 3, the Fat Man is calling out the showrunners like he never did on GOT.
And there are larger and more toxic butterflies to come, if HOUSE OF THE DRAGON goes ahead with some of the changes being contemplated for seasons 3 and 4…

Also, no sight of "The Winds of Winter", but that's expected.

Sometimes looking at the state of current year adaptations I wonder how much of it is actually motivated by progressive/CRT ideology and how much of it is just a corporatized chinese whisper game...each hierarchy adds another layer of "bosses want this" bullshit to save its neck.
Finally the CxOs just go with whatever monstrosity has been pitched because they are scared of taking any responsibility for creative direction lest it whips up the ire of any stakeholder.
!chuds I personally think it's the latter. Whatever you may think of sweet baby inc, the fact that a company exists with such a business model is an indicator that there is a market inefficiency arising from differences between creative direction and shareholder value oriented leadership.
I have no idea whether such a mismatch is actually required for creativity to thrive or it's the expected outcome from failure to properly diversify risk by putting the faith of the entire company in one product in massive production overruns and marketing.

People really underestimate just how much leftists and SJWs have infiltrated the game industry over the last 10 years.
Everyone coming up with conspiracy theories for why the west keeps making shitty woke games but the answer is simple, because the employees at these studios and publishers demand it.
I work in the industry so I see it first hand. The most vocal people on these companies are activists lefties who bring their politics into work under the "right side of history" shtick.
Everything culminated in 2020 thanks to BLM and Covid, these leftists activists were at their peak. The games that are coming out now were all in development at that time so we're finally seeing the results of their efforts.
Will the industry change course? I genuinely don't know. Like I said; the lefty SJWs are extremely vocal at these companies. Normies are afraid to speak up or just end up getting brainwashed with the talking points. Chuds get fired, the smart ones keep their mouths shut.
It's really on leaderships fault for not putting these people in their place and focusing on good projects. But leadership is either too afraid to speak up themselves or are trying to obfuscate the days they farted on employees or stole breast milk from the break room fridge so they deflect by going deep on DEI shit.
Hopefully the future is better as these games fail to gain any actual audience but I just don't see how we get out of this.

See that was my question. If demand and supply regarding wokeshit do not match, clearly the leadership who are inept at changing it should not be in leadership positions anymore.
But if they keep their positions even after multiple consecutive failures then either A. Nobody else wants it or B. There's a fundamental disconnect where a game/show's market performance has no bearing on the board's trust in leadership's ability to maximize shareholder return. Which one is it?

If the flops keep up the triple A companies will be forced to scale back and mid budget studios plus Nips and Gook-gacha will continue to eat their lunch. Once untouchable video game companies will cede more and more of their market share.
It'll be glorious

This makes it sound like it was some coordinated conspiracy when it's merely the result of the fallout from G*merGate causing increased polarization amongst nerds + nerds wanting kitty causing them to invite just about any woman that would tolerate them. Zoe Quinn herself was an example of this, in normie circles she would have been treated like the biohazard she is but since nerds are desperate they had no problem circling the wagons for her.
Before G*merGate there were plenty of devs who would be considered leftoids, but they wrote for the story they were working on with a sense of detachment. Leftoids (and rightoids too essentially) today proclaim how is "Everything is political!", which they use to justify whatever current year politics have been shoved into the game/tv/film narrative. This is despite the fact that if everything was indeed political then there is no need to shove modern day politics into random settings in the first place, since some form of that will naturally manifest itself. The problem isn't the fact that politics exists, but that the narratives and characters are being twisted to serve political agendas (basically the difference between art having politics vs political art).
The real problem is the infiltration of fanfiction writers into the industry, a group which in which leftoids are overrepresented in, because the vast majority of fanfiction writers want to self-insert themselves and/or their wish-fulfillment fantasies into existing writing. These wish-fulfillment fantasies includes their particular brand of politics, and the characters in games and other media are reduced to cowtools for acting out these fantasies instead of being used to write good stories. This is why we can see many current IPs being butchered by writers not respecting what made the previous releases work, as well as the lack of new original IPs being released. They lack creativity because their primary method of consuming entertainment is masturbatory, meaning they just want to jump into worlds that mirror their existing values and narratives. They can't enjoy things with the sense of detachment which requires imaginative effort and a willingness to be uncomfortable. It should be no surprise why DnD is so popular with these types, as it lets them roleplay their OCs with little consideration for the overall story being told.

All good points that I agree with, especially the effect of fan fiction on the quality of stories in modern media.
One of the things I noticed after 2014 is that game companies started adding more quotas particularly for women, but the problem is it's hard to find qualified women in the pipeline for game dev, especially outside of art. Video game writing is one place though that you don't need extensive qualifications for.
A lot of new female writers at that time lacked professional credits on their resumes but they would leverage their fan fiction stories as part of their portfolio to get their foot in the door. The results have been a disaster.

That looks so stupid with the 2nd wrapping underneath. It's like they initially made a design with just the top part but got afraid that it looked too sexual and then added this random out of place wrapping to cover her up some.
Also her whole outfit looks like it was cobbled together using random loot. Fuzzy shoulder pads, giant gold neck piece, and leather arm wraps for some reason.

Tolkien would never have sold the rights to Amazon, not even for the 250 million dollars they paid the Tolkien Estate, I don't believe Christopher Tolkien would have either, considering he even bitched about Peter Jackson's adaptations.

"I endured eardrum-shattering shellfire and watched my friends die from bullets and shrapnel. I was forced to kill Germans, which I hated to do. After the war, I didn't advertise my status as a veteran, and I started to write about important things like the creation of the universe, the origin of humanity, god, the sun, and the moon."
"I am a greasy fat frick with suspenders. I have literally never experienced war or any violence of any kind. Nevertheless, I pretend to know what war is like. I write about excrement and people pooping, and my fans praise me for being 'realistic.' "omg he's so real." "Aragorn's tax policies!" Why can't we endlessly dwell on ugliness, pain, and hopelessness?"
Obviously I side with the latter.

The things is we never see shit of Stannis', Robb's or Joffrey's tax policies either. It all boils down to the same good king bad king dichotomy. Joffrey's a bad king so he makes the peasants suffrer, darn his tax policies. Robb is a good king so his lords and peasants are happy (until he isn't and they're not).
