Dr. Ally Louks's PhD thesis is set to be one of the most influential theses of 21st century. Puts forward an original argument with remarkable clarity.

He's acting as if they read this bullshit and didn't get it. The point is that it's not worth reading because the entire topic is a joke that shouldn't exist as a PhD field.

It could be an interesting topic. How smells were used in fiction to demonstrate power balances. But her writing is awful and sounds like a generic university politics checklist. She also keeps calling it "olfactory oppression" when someone smells bad and other people dont want to be around them.

Sure, there might be some interesting findings there. I'm more so reacting to his strawman. The picture went viral based purely on the topic. It was just a pic of her and the cover which said "Olfactory Ethics: The Politics of Smell in Modern and Contemporary Prose." No one pretended to read her dissertation in the first place, but this guy is acting like they did and just couldn't understand it.

Anyone who uses the words "subverting" and/or "power structures" in their thesis should, and I say this unironically and in the most fedposty way possible, be sentenced to death by a revolutionary tribunal.

I would have chosen a more narrow period/georgraphical area to focus on. But I haven't read it and you have to request a copy if you want to

tbh 90% probably don't and think it's about Burger social justice and not some shit some neighbors wrote in books
but it's also stupid and a waste of a fricking topic like wtf
but most of the comments are like some dude that works as a refrigerator technician sneeding about "you fricking people think you're better than me, did fricking Biden pay for this?"
