The album is alright, maybe a bit too long and at least ten songs feel like filler. I have their previous album (Somewhere City) rated as a 7/10 while I'd give this maybe a 6 due to the aforementioned issues but the highs are very good. Also, darn I haven't heard any new (midwest) emo albums in a while, do you by chance have any recs of releases in the last 2-3 years?

Hot Mulligans Albums and especially EPs are pretty good. I understand it’s reached “overrated” status for many people and it’s hard to have a legitimate discussion but “Ant From Up There” does a stellar job at using Emo motifs even it’s not completely Emo.

“Arms Length- Everything Nice EP” has some bangers along with “American Beauty - American Beauty EP” and “For Ryan - Rookie Card” on Bandcamp. “i became birds - home is where” has a very “Brave Little Abacus” / “Jordaan Mason and the Horse Museum” feel so it’s not for everyone.

If you’re looking for thematic similarities “VOLCANIC BIRD ENEMY AND THE VOICED CONCERN by Lil Ugly Mane” is incredible, I’ve followed him for ages though.

I’m missing some other Bandcamp GEMS I’m sure, but /r/Emo is actually decent for finding gold. They are full of cute twinkry, granted.
