listening now and giving my opinion in real time.

i don't usually listen to this kind of music but i did buy a whole double album of brazilian surf rock a few years ago and love it

this is pretty good (i have NOTHING to compare it to), but it's not quite "dubby" in that it has that trance like dub bassline that just holds and carries throuigh to whatever the next idea this black guy at the mixing board has to say. i bet some people looked at that and thought it was an instrument. it's not. it's just a mixing console from the ... 60s looks like.

ok that song actually went by faster than i thought, oh shit, OR MAYBE NOT, MAYBE I FINALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT "TRANCE" AND "DUB" IS ABOUT. YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO JUST THINK OTHER SHIT AND THE MUSIC KIND OF TAKES YOU IN WAVES.

i get it now

but i don't really like it?

EDIT- I GAVE YUO A THUMBS UP ANYWAY for bringing us black people music, which is rare in our culture.

Fair enough. This is probably a better example of his work but I pretty much only post whats currently playing on my speakers when i feel like it.

i want to be clear that tho this is drama, i wasn't trying to make fun. i liked the song and everything i said was true- i literally got lost in my own thoughts, which i think was the point. i'll check this out too.

ok this is starting with much more force. now breaking into ... some -- is this island thing? dah dah dah i like it. and then the tom tom reverb is cool as shit. i bet if i WEREN'T paying attention to it ;because you asked, i'd probably be lulled into a trance which i suspect is what is supposed to happen.

edit- this is kind of the replacement of hoodoo isn't it? like, you know what i mean? if there isn't magic to hook ya, it's beats and this that just loops you back (yeas i hear the da da da , and then the "whoosh"; i like it)

i liked this one much better than the first. i can't really tell you why, maybe because it felt at the start that it was heavier and faster? not gonna lie to you, i would never really listen to this again because it fades into just repetitive stuff to me. but i get whey it's cool for those that are into the beat and rhythm.
