For real, my foid showed me college admissions data she has and every student is like

GPA: 4.8 (out of 4.0 scale)

ACT: 16

SAT: 920

And then the colleges’ admissions directors collectively go “let’s waive the standardized test score requirement because of covid for 2024”

Isn’t ACT 16 super low, like r-slur status?

Yes, that’s the problem lmao

And then they b-word about not getting in-state tuition when they live 1,000 miles away

I can’t even be mad at zoomer/alpha because I imagine things have gotten a lot worse since I was applying to college a decade ago. My private college was basically free from Pell grants and merit scholarships, but tuition is like twice as expensive now.

Most people who are at least academically test competent and plan for college starting in 10th grade or earlier are generally fine expense wise.

In Florida a 29 ACT can get you a near full ride for in-state (pic related for “Bright Futures scholarship” requirements). So much free college money for people that actually plan ahead by even a couple years

In other words, people in college debt (1) didn’t bother to do any financial planning, (2) didn’t bother to get a job during school once they started spending, or (3) should have never walked onto a campus in the first place because they were too dumb to get these scores
