Why is this music video so fricking weird? It has symbols flashing up every 20 seconds or so. Rusted Root - Send Me On My Way

I always liked this song but seriously wtf is up with the imagery in this video? It's weird as frick. It's constantly flashing symbols (American Indian ones maybe?) in a weird way, and has the boy with the angel wings presumably dying? It's really strange
