Ready or Not by The Delfonics - music samples THROUGH HISTORY

I thought this was sort of interesting so figured I'd make a half butt post about it.

Ready or Not Here I Come (Can't Hide from Love) by the Delfonics was a song that came out in 1968.

This song has been massively influential through music history, being sampled and covered by various artists since then

Most people probably remember The Fugees version of this song. It came out in 1996 and was massively popular (as was their album).

This song also samples Boadicea by Enya. She considered suing them for this, but decided not to after contacting them.

Anyways, back to Ready or Not.

The Jackson 5 did a cover of this song

As well as Johnny Osbourne - a famous jamaican reggae and dancehall singer

As for who has sampled this song. The list is extensive

Notable ones (excluding the aforementioned fugees)

Missy Elliot

50 Cent

T.I. (TWICE)

once with Nelly

and solo

MadLib

Mary J Blige

Ice-T (this is dope tbh)

And my personal favorite Three Six Mafia (actually mary j blige was probably just sampling this)

Anyways, I just thought it was interesting that that one song from 1968 was used so much in all this different shit.

The whosampled list is fricking crazy. So I posted about it.

This all started because I was listening to three six mafia. I think they're one of the dopest/most underrated groups of all time.

And they're really fascinating because of their heavy involvement with ICP and just the fact that they've been putting out music on and off for 20 years.

DJ Paul and Koopsta Knicca at one point formed a 'supergroup' with ICP called The Killjoy Club and released an album called Reindeer games.

And 36 makes frequent appearances at the gathering of the juggalos and shit like that. It's crazy.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
