I never gave them a chance during their actually popular era but caught some of their songs on random shuffle playlists and they don't deserve the hate, a solid passable experience

They are just average pop slop that gets blasted on radio. And I don't recall (though I haven't followed that kind of music in years) any big hit that similar bands achieved.

If any effort were required you would not change the station/skip their song. But on the other hand you'll never say "That song was awesome, play it again!"
