Honestly I skipped around that video a bit and while I guess she's okay with the more scream-y parts, her normal voice was really... bad tbh. Just really strained, wavering, not solid at all.
tbh I haven't really listened to new Linkin Park since Meteora lmao
I thought she was alright on the studio version/music video, but the live stream was hit or miss (and tbf there might've been some gear problems, her mic cut out on a couple lines in "The Catalyst"). Live, she sounded best at the end of the show for "Bleed It Out" , which I didn't really think about until now, but .
Thought she sounded pretty good on the short, quiet version of "Lost" too.
It's going to be pretty weird to have somebody else singing Chester's lyrics about depression and mental health issues since there turned out to be a lot of foreshadowing in them though. Like, if they start playing "Given Up" with her:
I liked that song too, but I really wasn't into this. Maybe she's not that great live? Her screaming seemed strained. Maybe I'm spoiled by other female metal vocalists that are great.
Here I was about to make some attempt at a dramatic post with a title like "Linkin Park goes WOKE as their lead transitions into a WOMAN and joins the church of SCIENTOLOGY", but I'm literally half a day late
Anyway, in all honesty I think picking a woman in place of Chester was a smart choice, if not the only real way forward, as she'd be different enough to stand on her own and not have to endure constant comparisons to the guy she's replacing or questions whether she's imitating him too much.
That said, while I vibe with the new single (all I've heard so far from her), I can't help but feel that she doesn't sound much different from any other female rock singer out there. Sorta generic almost
I'm hopeful for now. Anyone who says what's the point of continuing LP without Chester isn't giving enough credit to Mike IMO.

She's alright on the screaming parts, I think it's impossible to really replace Chester on the existing songs though.
