I forgot about Sponge. I loved them back in the day. Here's Wax Ecstatic

just thought of them because i was talking about the Stubbs the Zombie soundtrack (a series of covers of old songs by modern bands) and how that was obviously inspired by the Saturday Morning Cartoons Greatest Hits cover album, which Sponge did a cover of Speed Racer for, and then i was like OH SHIT SPONGE EXISTED.

fun fact, i can sing just like the singer from Sponge, which means i can ALSO sing just like Gavin Rossdale, because there's just a slight amount of kegel control necessary to differentiate.

i know they weren't "blow the doors off" good, but they really WERE pretty neat, weren't they? certainly they deserved better than they got.

man, that's right-- there's at least THREE great bangers. I'd never heard of DRAMARAMA formally back when i heard SPONGE, but weirdly i had HEARD a DRAMARAMA song far before SPONGE became a thing, and you probably did too-- did you ever see Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master? Their song ANYTHING ANYTHING () seems to me to be the prototype for the ENTIRETY of SPONGE's output.

hey, if you're gonna rip someone off, to me, you can do far worse than DRAMARAMA

EDIT- could you imagine if SPONGE did a cover of ANYTHING ANYTHING? lol it'd probably sound about the same, but the guitar would be higher in the mix;)
