Bach was always the classical composer I could understand the most. I don't know if I quite get this, tho. I always liked blues and jazz, it feels like Bach knew life was shit but also beautiful in how terrible it was, and was trying to express it. That's what I get behind.
You're analysis is a lot deeper than mine, lol. I always attributed Bach's style to the idea that he was trying his hardest to glorify god through artistic excellence. I don't really read any self-expression from him personally, it's more like he's trying to chisel out a beautiful thing that already exists conceptually, and discovering how deep it is by adding complexity. You see the same kind of mindset in most of the art from that time, especially architecture. There's a very concerted effort towards 'exploring' an aesthetic idea, and maximizing the aesthetic appeal through these sprawling, elaborate patterns with all kinds of ornamentation and iconography. (Look at something like this and tell me its artistic potential hasn't been completely and rigorously exhausted.)It's something I'm really drawn to and respect deeply.

There's a track in the RTS game Rise of Nations that cribbed this Bach fugue. It's the badass track that plays when your capital is under siege or you're about to win.

Bach's neurodivergent aestheticmaxxing is why he's GOAT. It's so rare for music to affect my soul the way Bach does.
