Now, I'm more of a Gabriel-era man myself, but the Collins-era stuff holds up much better than the detractors think. His solo stuff is mostly shit, but Genesis still had some gems on each of their albums until We Can't Dance.

I prefer Gabriel era as well but Duke is as good as anything from that era. It's like a perfect meld between prog and the 80's style that Genesis would wind up representing. It also sounds a lot like something that Gabriel would have done with them had he stayed.

Also, say what you will about We Can't Dance but No Son of Mine and Driving the Last Spike are top notch.

Agreed, it was their last strong album start to finish. The closing instrumental is phenomenal...almost on par with Los Endos.

Agreed. Overall Gabriel is superior both as part of a group or solo, but Collins is definitely a solid musician in his own right.
