i personally always like Slowdive more than MBV, though i liked them. I also loved Curve. But NOBODY seemed for forgotten and criminally overlooked than CATHERINE WHEEL. This song sounds "haunted" to me. I said this on my Walkmen post, but there are certain songs that actually sound like they capture a point in time and every time i hear them, i remember vividly parts of my childhood and teen years, and this is one of those songs. i don't know if it's the reverb on the guitar or what, but it just sounds like the song has got more than the notes.

just thought of them because i was talking about the Stubbs the Zombie soundtrack (a series of covers of old songs by modern bands) and how that was obviously inspired by the Saturday Morning Cartoons Greatest Hits cover album, which Sponge did a cover of Speed Racer for, and then i was like OH SHIT SPONGE EXISTED.
fun fact, i can sing just like the singer from Sponge, which means i can ALSO sing just like Gavin Rossdale, because there's just a slight amount of kegel control necessary to differentiate.

Last night I crawled into bed
With the darkest thoughts in my head
Could not find peace of mind
The night was so long and is so unkind
Morning has finally come
All my worries are undone
Wounded, but stronger than
before
Morning clears the sky once
more
Yesterday's pain and misery
I won't let it get a hold of me
I'm one with my sorrow, we
walk hand in hand
But it's not who I am
It's not who I am
Morning has finally come
Shadows vanish in the sun
A new beginning, now I'm su
re
Morning clears the sky once
more
Last night I crawled into bed
With the darkest thoughts in
my head
Sometimes my clouded min
d holds me down
But it's not who I am
It's not who I am
Morning has finally come
All my worries are undone
Wounded, but stronger than
before
Morning clears the sky once
more
Morning has finally come
Shadows vanish in the sun
A new beginning, now I'm sure
Morning clears the sky once
more
I don't ask for more
I don't ask for more
