I prefer to use a clock where the only hours I really use are like 1 through 4. Anything past 4 o'clock never happens on the surface of the earth, so the rest of the numbers are just useless baggage I guess.

I think once on TNG they described a Borg ship as having an interior temperature of "thirty-three" and that was supposed to be unusually warm. I remember bursting out laughing when I heard that. It sounds so silly.

Americans genuinely believe that Celsius a has "lower precision"

Doesn't surprise me from the country that couldn't understand the third pounder

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

It literally has less precision. Look up the definition of precision and then admit you're wrong and suck my peepee.

A scale of 100 degrees vs 180 literally means more precision you frick

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

A scale in itself has no "precision", it's a continuous line, they're all isomorphic.

The thing that has precision is measurements (uncertainty), and while for a specific measurement one number for precision might be higher than the other, they are different units and if converted properly are equal.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Oh please. 180 degrees gives you more precision (or ability to be precise in your measurements if you want to nitpick) than a 100 degree scale does and thats a fact jack

Copying my earlier comment elsewhere

Why do they refuse to use dm? Everything is measured in mm, cm, or m. Decimeters is the perfect unit for stuff humans interact with.

A box, 1 ft x 1 ft x 1 ft, can be comfortably held in your hands. Same goes for a box 1dm x 1dm x 1dm. But they'll never use that measurement, they'll call it a 10cm x 10cm x 10cm or 100mm x 100mm x 100mm.

They measure humans in cm but cars in mm.

My car is 202 inches long. That's a reasonable unit to use. A Euro would identify their Mondeo as being 4,731mm long. Absolutely unnecessary.

And don't get me started again on how those idiots measure fuel economy.

How can you defend such a brain damaged system, it's just proof Americans cannot use critical thinking

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

The metric system only exists because rebellious frogs during the French Revolution wanted to get rid of any semblance of relation to the royalty including systems of measure. did you know they also wanted to convert people to metric time? Didn't work because its objectively r-slurred.

There is nothing special about metric, it's only advantage is being able to quickly convert units. Imperial measures are more natural and intuitive. you measure height in feet and inches if you have a brain, you say 6 feet not 182.8 centimeters. Fahrenheit allows for more precision. Foot is more weildy in daily use or for construction than meters. 12 is more divisible than 10.

also btw it's not based on some dead kings foot, the Greek, Roman, and Egyptian measurement called the foot is very very close in length to the modern standard we use today. It's just a natural measurement

Imperial is OBJECTIVELY superior
