Iirc in my boomer times (maybe 2nd intifada) there was at least one case where the hitchhiker didn't pretend to be Jewish. Jew picks him up and he murders him even though this guy had proven he's not part of the problem.
But attacking the most innocent people in a country because it's easy isn't unique to them. Everyone in the region has done this.
