offending cup
The HARAM video with timestamp
I literally dunno who this twink is but its hilarious he had to apologize for the starbucks cup
but I googled danny gonzalez site:reddit.com
and found these
How do we feel about Danny Gonzalez drinking Starbucks
Danny Gonzalez in his most recent video had a Starbucks cup, I'm fairly behind on the boycott and thought Starbucks was still on the list. I just want to hear what other people think of him supporting Starbucks with what's going on with watermelon right now.
It's actually not politics; It's a human rights issue. It's been mixed up a lot, but the main reason we've been boycotting Starbucks is because of their INCREDIBLY poor working conditions. labor inspectors found out about slave labor on plantations certified by Starbucks' C.A.F.E. Practice standards. I wouldn't be surprised if Starbucks does also support Israel, but I'm not sure if it's true, or if there was just an entire mixup with the boycott list being made and the slave labor thing coming out.
TLDR: starbucks uses slaves. Slavery = basic human rights violation; basic human rights ≠ politics👎
Danny Doesn't Owe Anything
Before I say this, I want to begin by saying I 100% stand with Palestine. What is happening is atrocious, and there is no excuse for it.
However, I feel like people have gotten entitled on this subreddit. Firstly, the Starbucks cup. I feel like it was definitely an overreaction. Of course you can point out and say that Starbucks might not be the best to drink in this moment, but the posts I saw were immediately disappointed and not giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Firstly, practically every company supports Israel. It's depressing and boycotting is good, but it's so easy to slip up and forget or not even know. Starbucks doesn't fall into this category but some products you kinda have to suck it up and use because it's necessary, and that doesn't mean you have to support it.
Another thing to notice is that the government pushes heavily towards Israel being innocent and the good guys. If someone brings it up you should research it, but from how much Israel propaganda there is someone being misguided is more likely than actively pro genocide. You should gently push people into the right direction with that, so reaching out to Danny in that scenario is good, and its valid to be critical of the possibility, but automatically saying "guys he might support genocide" is reaching.
I will admit if he was aware and kept buying consciously then that would be :// but the Starbucks cup didn't spark this. People were on and on about Danny Gonzalez and Palestine before demanding a stance, which again, is entitled. Wanting a public figure to speak up about everything is ridiculous and unreasonable. It's good when they do, don't get me wrong!! But if a comedian doesn't mention Ukraine that doesn't mean they side with Russia.
Again, I'm really happy he cleared this up but some of yall felt really chronically online with that. The benefit of the doubt is something that should be given, not earned. Feels like guilty until proven innocent all over again.
Agreed. Also, it's like, so many people who are boycotting things are from the US. And here, 90% of products and companies of course are on the wrong side. Instead of worrying about what products will end up going to good causes, people should just focus on donating money to helpful resources and showing support. I feel like the way people have gone about this whole thing online has really ruined the way outsiders look at this. People are calling out anybody for the smallest things and are usually trying to one-up each other by showing who is a better boycotter. I even saw somebody shaming another person for using Google. That's just my opinion, but I feel that the whole idea of this situation online needs to be completely redone.
I don't understand why everyone feels the need to demand moral perfection of Danny and other celebrities honestly. I feel like Danny has been pretty clear for his entire career that he's just a goofy lil guy, not a political commentator. Anyone who's watched Danny for a long time already knows the kind of good natured person he is. I don't feel like we're entitled to knowing his opinions on political issues at all, much less demand that he keep up with the latest boycotts and participate accordingly. Having a 7 month old is fucking exhausting, I guarantee he's just genuinely too exhausted to be super informed on political minutia right now.
Wanna know the best part? You do literally 15 seconds of research and you can find a plethora of stories validating that Starbucks has said and done fuck all about Israel. Their official stance is (paraphrased) "we want everyone to stop shooting everyone because that means we have fewer people to sell coffee to."
People are jumping to conclusions because it's cool to hate something- Republicans have been doing it for years and I highly encourage fellow Liberals to think and do a fucking ounce of research other than "I saw it on tiktok/Instagam/youtube" before you jump down everyone's throat.
Y'all deadass just believed a wild conspiracy that holds no water. It holds so little water, I found out about it 10 minutes ago and I've already debunked it 5 times over. And you attacked a new dad over it. Fucking shame. I'm very disappointed with Greg on the whole right now and I'm shamed to be a part of it.
Danny apologized for the Starbucks cup
I agree he had a newborn so it makes sense that he wouldn't have known especially since it gets like 0 mainstream news coverage
LUCKY THSI TWINK HAS A NEW BORN OR ELSE HE WOULD BE DEAD
I was under the impression that Starbucks isn't contributing to the IDF/Israel, and the boycott was in regards to their union-busting antics. So honestly, I don't get the rabid hate for anyone who buys a beverage there. I personally am boycotting them, as I didn't even like a lot of their stuff to begin with, but to claim that someone supports genocide and murder for drinking a latte is inaccurate. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
They aren't. All they did was take down a pro-ceasefire post from the Starbucks union that used their logo. People have the right to boycott over this but there's tons of misinformation about what's going on and what starbucks actually did.
In my opinion, for most people it's a mix of lack of information, and a lot of laziness. Just scroll through these comments here and you'll have the whole spectrum from "I didn't know Starbucks supports Israel" to "Starbucks supports Gaza". People often times see one tweet or one post and they roll with it without looking things up. Hence lack of information. Laziness... well it's easier to hate on some random YouTuber/content creator than to check yourself, where you buy from, and what you "support". Seeing someone online have Starbucks and comment hate? Easy? Go through all the companies you buy from, check if they're good or bad, face your own lack of information? Nah. That takes time and effort.
A man with a newborn baby is being dogged on for getting a cup of coffee from a boycott with no press coverage
And also seemingly no goal??? I am all for Palestine but there's no reputable source about them supporting Israel, just the same tweet being passed around. Also there's no demands that, if met, would end the boycott which is the whole point of boycotts.
his boycott is very confusing and is NOT a part of BDS or other more targeted boycotts. I don't watch Danny anymore but have been a Greg since Vine and I feel badly that he's stressing abt this.
The Starbucks boycott is very confusing bc it's merging two movements - it came about bc a regional SB union was using a modified SB logo on Twitter and made at least one pro-Palestine post. SB came down on them for copyright infringement/tying their imagery to pro-Palestine content. So the boycott is a mashup of pro-union+pro-Palestine. Unfortunately, few people know this and it's not a “real” boycott in that it's not a part of any specific movement, there aren't clear goals or stated requests attached to the “boycott”. It's mostly functioning as a way to harass people for buying starbucks.
The actual BDS movement, which has been operating for 19 years, urges people to get involved with local organizations in their country, and to boycott HP, Puma, Sodastream, abd Sabra hummus, as well as some financial operators.
Puma | Genuine question but is there any other argument against Puma aside from them sponsoring the Israeli football association? Cause they announced September last year already that the collaboration will be ended at the end of this year. I know it'd be better if they pulled out asap though I'm assuming them breaching a contract wouldn't go well; they should be able to afford it but maybe giving anyone in Israel a platform to act as a victim, even if it's an economical one, isn't great? I don't know. Again, just genuinely wondering if there's more or if people are good to buy Puma stuff on Jan 1st 2025.
knew he was a good egg ❤️
he shouldn't have to apologise over a fucking coffee cup. some of you are entitled little craigs.
seriously though, who tf was harassing him over a CUP. leave. him. alone.
hate how he felt he needed to apologise when he did nothing wrong. smh.
HE SHOULD BE SHUNNED AND BURNED AT THE STAKE
It's just a cup
Y'all need to calm down and stop being so sensitive. Creators aren't obligated to speak up on every single issue you care about, especially if it isn't relevant to their content. It is completely understandable for Danny to not have heard about the boycott. Also, Starbucks doesn't operate in Israel but even if they did, it still wouldn't be worth boycotting them over. Stop being so petty and leave Danny alone!
