get back to the negotiation table

Is there any point in trying to negotiate? Hamas (shockingly) is acting in bad faith. All the hostages are probably dead and they're trying to string Israel along so the international outcry stops total hamas death.

They might have hiding them in one of destroyed buildings making up the entire Gaza strip now. Killing the hostages in the fog of war is beneficial to Netanyahu's gov, anyway.

Killing the hostages in the fog of war is beneficial to Netanyahu's gov, anyway.

This is the part that strikes me as suspicious. Israel had weeks of advance notice about this impending attack from numerous countries and yet they were seemingly caught with their pants down. Meanwhile, the music festival itself was a rave billed as an event celebrating “friends, love and infinite freedom;” the kind of event catering primarily to a non-conservative audience. With all the protests that were calling for Netanyahu to be removed for his various abuses of power, suddenly there was huge distraction that bolstered support for his policies and completely hamstrung the protests calling for his removal with predominantly non-supporters as the victims of the attack.

Strikes me as a little too convenient.

Here's my running theory:

Hamas upper members knoe they keep power by perpetual war, but they get rich by not succeeding, so every now and then they send their rabble to go do some damage and die to keep the income flowing in. They also know that they have been infiltrated by spies, so they set up a big plan believing that most of it will be countered anyway. The Israelis fricked up and brushed it off as another barrage of rockets that they didn't need to prepare to much for. Oct 7th happens and hamas leadership can't come out and say "lol yeah we didn't really count on succeeding as much as we did."

Yeah, that's Hama's leverage, so killing their leverage is good for the war.

TFW IDF is bombing blindly and as a result hostages have died at a rate two orders of magnitudes higher than civilians. Literal commie double think.

The would be one of the hostage return groups. Their views vary but they all would generally support the war but would want return of hostages made the first priority compared to the Hannibal directive policy that the Israeli government would probably espouse and the differences in war conduct such would lead to. As you can guess they tend to be most strongly supported by the hostages' families
