Yeah, although I think the current regime is trying to phase out memories of him and replace it with the Ottomans. People do this with almost every preindustrial empire. Life expectancy in the Greek and Roman empires was lower than other major civilizations in the area, indigenous Canucks completely mogged Euro standards of hygiene and QoL even after being introduced to Western disease, etc etc.
