Filipino land is not very cheap if it's arable or metropolitan commercial, opening a franchise in Manila is still $1m+ USD unless it's a Dunkin Donuts stand in the mall or whatever.
Plus the hacienda families don't really sell when they can just run the country in perpetuity.
You know that's worse, right? Land value is by definition unproductive. If most of your country's wealth is parked there, then little is being invested into anything that could improve society, like factories or roads

They let you if you have money and/or a career I met my wife in the USA and ~2 million other Filipinos are currently on work visas legally.
