It's cool to take your kid on adventures like this but 4 years old is way too young for them to appreciate it. We went on a big family trip to DC when I was 5 and the only thing I remember (despite seeing all the monuments/museums/etc.) was how cool it was to be in a hotel room and playing spy games with my siblings/cousins. Until you're like 13 the only thing you appreciate about trips is sleeping in a different spot.
