Every year there's fewer and fewer reasons for the majority of people to even bother with a desktop, or use a computer at all.

Phones can browse the web, edit files, play bibeo gaymes and even print (Linuxcels btfo)

They're a fraction of the cost and fit in your pocket

Nothing can replace a mouse, keyboard and multiple screens for productivity, but I wasn't talking about work

Honestly it’s weird how their actions don’t push it as a PC killer. It should be a PC killer based on it’s hardware but they simply do not follow it up with the software. I’m waiting til stable to give it a shot but the “Stage Manager” feature is a step in the right direction but very strange execution.

They should really open the App Store more and let real development and proper productivity apps to flourish first and foremost. You can have a functional development environment on the iPad…but it’s not going to run locally, which kind negates the awesome hardware.

by the time u get to pc killing territory it becomes more complicated and cumbersome than just getting a laptop. those bluetooth keyboard/case combos are fine enough in theory but then u also need to add in a mouse or touchpad because using the screen just isnt practical for a lot of stuff. theres also only one port on it, which means if u want to attach more than one thing at a time u have to use a dongle or a dock. which is fine in theory, i have a tb3 dock i use for my laptop, but the difference is my laptop doesnt only just have that one port. so if u want to take full advantage of the capabilities of the ipad you have to stay in one place which completely negates any advantages it could have over a laptop.

apple is well aware of this, thats why they stuck a billion tb4 ports on the macbook pro. apple would risk cannibalizing macbook sales if they made the ipad actually practical
