i majored in computer science and i regret being alive

has nothing to do with the computer science tho

No degree but I work in software engineering and think about changing careers every few months.

Its hard to keep up with the everchanging biology curriculum. Every month we have a new version of NuBiology

Lmao tell about it, you got the "s*x is a spectrum" bullshit yet?

Jump in the discussion.

That was so 2022, its all there is NO s*x at all now, the s*x of an organism is completely immaterial.

Lmao it's over for biosciences, soon it's just gonna be schizo post-truth babble. All this to meet some schizo political agenda.

You heard of that project to "decolonise" classifications, taxonomies and scientific language? Sciencecucks will bend the knee to it eventually.

Be black, and you'll be accepted to med school

Even for hard sciences, for most people, they'll just be lab drones. Exceptions apply for PhD's but if you just get a BS in like chemistry it kinda sucks. The good jobs prefer Chemical Engineering so you get shunted to the worse jobs.

I've been seeing pharma corps offering actual apprenticeships now lol

I only have a BS in biology and now I do chemical engineering work. No regrets since it is very lucrative.

Part of the problem with the sciences is that it does not pay well outside of specific industries.

Yeah pure sciences are similar to pre-law/pre-med where if you don’t go in with a plan you’re going to get fricked. It’s not like engineering degrees where you can major in whatever and frick around and still get a job.

Actually being a scientist is a lot more boring than watching NOVA.

Social science isn't real science

A select few get into med/vet school, then the options are mindless lab work, or compete for heavily politicized research funding if you get a PhD.

Lab work is extremely boring and lonely.

because science is nothing but bigoted eurocentric white supremacy

Jump in the discussion.

Many reasons:

-too dumb for the field

-Med students < med school applicants

-not as much money as engineering

-“real” science often requires a PhD

-Getting that PhD education sucks peepee

-Postdocs sucks even harder peepee

-Discovering that science is not remotely an exciting or sexy experience

Probably more too.

biology/chemistry/etc is a fricking awful degree with zero built-in job prospects bar continuing education

and it's not even fun work like communications or whatever else

Honestly I'm deeply impressed that most people of any degree don't seem to regret their major. That seems like the bigger story.

Jump in the discussion.

whaaaaaat?! majoring in something that basically everyone uses doesn't cause regret!? no one could have seen this coming. it was impossible to know.

The tech field exploded so fast that a lot of people actually didn’t see it coming.

~20 years ago no one supported the idea of getting into computer science aside from that one weird comp sci teacher at school.

The “American Dream” was also still alive, and they convinced kids that you could be whatever you wanted and still find financial success and happiness.

I think you have your timelines messed up. 20 years ago was the end of the dot com craze, and even though that bubble burst it left everyone talking about how good a cs degree is. I still remember my dad sitting down and showing me the article stating that nursing and comp sci are the best career paths for stability.

Issue was then as it is now that thinking like a CS major is nerdy and hard, so even the people who really wanted to do it ended up failing out. My class barely 40% who started graduated, and I went to a solid school. Of course now we're gonna all be futtbucked by AI but at least thats not a CS specific problem.

Yeah I wonder how this factors in people who dropped out. My Engineering class started at like 400 freshman year and was <150 by Graduation.

engineering higher than computer science? :marseyconfused:

Regular engineers dont have it as easy as they used to. Certain sectors do well, but generic engineers don't have it so good from what I understand.

Engineering more regrets than comp sci

Engineerbros, should i be worried?

Im almost graduated and my hairline is still holding strong despite being shoulder long.

Though the hair overall did thin up a bit :marseyscared:
