If you try to install windows 10 with internet access it forces you to make a M$ account

It literally locks the back button so the only option you have to avoid making an account is to just kill power to the fricking thing!

And that fricking controna c*nt that comes in outta nowhere FRICKING SCREAMING AT YOU AB0UT UR NEW WINDOWS 10 INSTALL. Despite their claims of "voice guided install" Me counter screaming "No frickoff aids cancer goaway c*nt aids cancer" failed to deactivate it

This is why I use rockyLinux (well and the 10 years of updates)

It’s always incredible listening to wincels talking about their OS.

I use Win11 for work but I treat it no different than my microwave, it’s an appliance.

A cancerous, aids ridden appliance.

Literally everytime I go download some random exe off whothefrickevenknows.su.ru.co.uk.gov.com I feel like an r-slur, but ms still doesn't have a real software repo. They have the MS store shit were you need to give them all your information to access programs they've vetted

You can get basically everything you need off of Winget tbh

What you have to do is plug it into the internet, click continue on making a microsoft account, unplug it, and then it lets you create an offline login.

I had wifi. Tired turning it off but that didn't seem to work

Make sure you're turning it off on the screen making a Microsoft account. Not the one before. I believe that's how I got around it.

There's a console command you have to run to skip it: oobe\bypassnro is supposed to work, they've been patching these workarounds though so I'm not sure if it's up to date. It used to work with just trying with a non-existent email, not sure if it still does.

Don't they still prevent you from adding software unless you sign up for an account? There might be a workaround but that made me just give up windows last year tbh. Steam Play is good enough now for a lot of games, and no point in running Windows if you can just buy a console for the others imo.

I could swear there's a win10 iso with all that stuff cut out by default during install

if u find it send it to me

I remember remastering my own windows 7 isos. Get all my games and shit preinstalled so they'd work out of the box

Apparently if you use rufus to create the install iso there is an option that bypasses the online account

Based rufus but I use ventoy. It's one of those "multiboot" loaders so I can just throw like 10 isos on a usb, boot into any one of them

Haven't heard of it but that sounds like a nice feature, I'll have to check it out. I just use cat for all my boot media creation cause it's easier than using a gui and it's installed with core-utils.

Linux still not support HDR though. HDR looks good for watching movies on my OLED. The fact there's still no support is scandalous. No I won't contribute to code it. I will continue using windows so I can enjoy HDR movies.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/HDR_monitor_support

I'll probably switch to this Rust DE when it's ever released and has hdr

System76 have announced their new Rust based Cosmic Desktop will have a brand new Wayland compositor (based on Smithay) which will include support for HDR as well as fractional scaling and HiDPI, see https://blog.system76.com/post/november-at-system76-products-promos--cosmic-de.

OH NO LOONIX DOESN'T SUPPORT XYZ FEATURE

:#soycry:

Just pay someone to implement it for you. How valuable is your time that you're willing to waste it on unsolvable windows bullshit issues instead of the linux equivalent where you can just pay anyone to fix it for you.

Is HDR similar to the VHS2DVD experience, or is it mostly coping bullshit?

In order of improvement.

VHS to DVD > 480 to 1080 = SDR to HDR = 4:3 to Widescreen > 1080 to 4k > 2d to 3d

You need a fairly new and mid/high-end screen to see HDR improvement. And old stuff isn't really remastered into HDR afaik even though 35mm theoretically could be
