Any linuxoid CADmonkeys here?

I'm getting increasingly annoyed by Windows frickery and want to move to lunix completely. I need to do DXF/DWG stuff from time to time and so far my experience with FreeCAD is absolutely negative. Are there any tolerable alternatives?

You could possibly move to a cloud solution like Smart Draw and run everything through your browser. Smart Draw won't be nearly as full featured as Auto Cad though.

You could always setup a VM to run Windows only apps too. Sometimes you just can't get around Linux not supporting certain things.

I thought WINE was advanced to the level that you could even game on Linux seamlessly? You're telling me you can't run Autocad in WINE? That seems to differ from what I'm always being told about how capable it is.

Also using Linux on the desktop (apart from Kali when you want to be all super-sekrit-squirrel) is still an exercise in unnecessary frustration and being led around in circles. Have they even come up with a VNC server that works on Wayland yet and lets you remotely unlock a session? The last time I tried that nightmare the answer was no.

Thanks to copy protection Autocad does not work with Wine.

Have you tried solidworks? You can get cracked versions that obviously don't have copy protection.

I work with Solidworks 2022 quite often, since it's the only CAD to support sheet metal converter for the press brake on my job. It has a lot of problems:

1. It is fr*nch

2. Even when cracked it still has copy protection service, even worse one than in Autocad

3. It crashes every 30 minutes.

Autodesk Inventor is better in every single aspect and honestly IDK who would pay money for Solidworks.
