it could be lol but there are too many other characters there and names are usually 2-3 characters long only. you can try OCR for it!

OCR is not working worth a darn on any of this

I guess the handwriting varies too much from any of the common print fonts that it's been trained on

I think because some of the ink has faded so it's hard for the OCR to pick it up, but someone who grew up learning traditional chinese should be able to guess and recognise the characters easily

you can try something like this to draw the characters and then use google translate: https://www.purpleculture.net/chinese_handwriting_input/

i think what @Retaaaard said about it being a wedding gift is probably correct

singaporeans aren't the best at the chinese language because it's taught up till 16 or 18 years of age and i hated it

Yeah the top two chars on the right column are most affected, the grooves are still there though (the characters are engraved)

I'll give that site a try

I assume the age might have affected the way the characters are drawn and the wording also, if it's mainland pre-simplified-traditional I don't know how far that diverged from HK/Taiwan modern traditional which is what most modern translators will be trained on.

yeah might be some calligraphy going on there so it gets tricky

one example why it's difficult for simplified chinese enjoyers to read traditional chinese and vice versa lol
