Congrats for making this another IITJEE. Sad.

The thing is good companies will follow good guidelines. They will have good architecture discussions, you will hear terms like orchestrator thrown at you every other day.

In startup the agenda is to make things. It will be like do things and make things chahe kaise v.

Having experience in both is good.

But having theese experience in service based is that possible? Most of the folks don't want to be getting into the software engineering's awesomeness. They don't want to know about the computer Science behind it.

To know all that it's required to be around people who have that kind of motivation.

Also it's learning the core principles of engineering. What's there with IIT JEE. It ain't just DSA bruh. All the things which I said are the heart of Engineering. You gotta love it if you're in this sub. [-49]

Shut up bro it's not another competitive exam it's a company to work in. There are thousands of other companies better than fang stop watching yt.

That's the problem where you don't read it correctly & spread gyaan. Said the word "prod based" too. Stop being unfocused and unattentive. [-29]

Getting into faang now a days looks like an achievement and everybody is in a rat race for that, people don't think what they can achieve or learn from their it career rather than getting into faang , after almost 10years it career atleast I know better WLB and good pay to sustain you and your family along with some savings is what most of us carve for, I have the constant pressure inside faang effects mental health for many people.

Also, be ready to get laid off randomly from these companies.

Also, be ready to die randomly from some accident.

Yes I will be ready tho. Such is life. [-31]

Maturity is when you realise FAANG is the worst for work life and stability. There are so many good options out there.

OP has no sense of how the real world works and derives his understanding of the world from YouTube videos and day dreams.

Your post lacks common sense. You are not asking real questions or advice. You just want us to reinforce your expectations which are childish and immature. Or you want us to discourage you and use that as fuel to achieve your goals.

Either way, you are gonna lose.

Get a job, do it, learn some common sense and then ask us what your problems are.

Baby that was a statement that I will do. So unfocused you are. Nd for reference my source of information are something like "7yrs exp London guy product consultant, previously worked with practo, many more. Just an example. Many of the sources are like this." [-4]

Faang is to midwit tech cels what MBB is to midwit MBAcels. Any time someone starts harping about how they want to work or love working in those companies you just roll your eyes and start talking with someone else.

Faang has become such a pipe dream ( Faang, more like bhang, am I right) for so many techcels, it's not even funny anymore. I have seen so many applications from ex faang cels where they have marked their stint (sometimes internships), in black bold avenir as if that alone should justify everything.

To be fair, fewer idiots manage to slip through the FAANG hiring process than they do at most companies (sans amazon ig, they always need warm bodies), but the internal quirks for all of them (sans Apple) can make it hard for them to adapt to normal places and the acronym is basically dead given that HFTs, OpenAI, etc. are now the ones scooping up the really good SWE talent.

I have seen so many applications from ex faang cels where they have marked their stint (sometimes internships), in black bold avenir as if that alone should justify everything.

If that's happening now then it could just be that the applicants are desperate for work, given how hard it is for entry to mid-level tech workers to find a good job at the moment. Though it seems a lot of even senior FAANG employees are coming to the realization that their company alone isn't getting them callbacks given how saturated the market is

Getting into FAANG is pretty underwhelming qualifications, but if you can hit mid-senior levels from promotions, thats pretty impressive ngl

I mean, the bar is lower than a place like OpenAI, especially with the COVID hiring boom, but it's still higher than the average company's. Their hiring processes can be pretty stupid and arbitrary but the TC, benefits, and decreasingly prestige give them the ability to be selective.

Issue is the super selective unicorns and HFTs might just dumpster ur resume if you arent a top college-cel or have previous experience at a "pretigious place" like google

Yeah, every hiring process is full of dumb arbitrary bullshit. I've been interviewing recently and bombed some tier-99 interviews while landing a tier 1 offer with flying colors. On average though, the selective companies tend to have better talent, or at least fewer shitty employees

What is it about Amazon that attracts r-slurs? I have a friend who was an abject r-slur who managed to get a job there, and now he makes like 10 times my salary. :#marseyitsover:

FAANG is such a meme. Oh you did what you might do at another company but with a trillion useless project managers and there was an onsite restaurant? Woah dude that's so crazy you definitely deserved that 400k TCO

>with a trillion useless project managers

Good PMs are worth their weight in gold and SWE-driven product development is one of the reasons why Meta's been pooping the bed while Apple eats its lunch because of its design-driven culture

Yes, but like realtors, B2B SaaS salesmen and insurance agents, the barrier for entry is low, the median quality is hovering at "abysmal", even if the good ones are some of the most impactful people you can ever work with

Isn't that pretty much the same for any job though? If you go to a dinosaur company half of the code monkeys, designers etc. will be straight out of bootcamp or autodidacts.

Yes, but at least an engineer/accountant/attorney/doctor has a degree of competence at the base level

For SWEs at least, there's a long and celebrated history of autodidacts entering the field. And for tier-1 companies I really doubt that they're just letting many new grads with an irrelevant bachelor's or school of hard knocks degree start as a PM. I'm sure there are a lot of shitty ones, but at least there's a bar of some sort preventing anyone from becoming a PM, and ime many of the complaints about PMs from SWEs are based in their inability to understand that there's more to product development than building and launching cool shit as quickly as possible

The meme TC is why its desirable, prestige is a joke, but TC is forever :marseymoney:

sometimes I tell my TC amount in INR to people who keep boasting about FAANG renumerations (mainly in marriage functions) and they get all flustered and be like ... "banks pay that much!???" and when I tell them its fully remote and I work barely 4hrs a day they break down and start asking for referrals

The thing that gets me about FAANG is that none of them besides apple are doing anything interesting. (and apples interesting stuff isnt in swe)

Which makes it a perfect indicator for someone who actually doesnt care about their career besides money at all.
