This is why the powerjannies are saying that they are having a temper tantrum over accessibilities options. They can't use the Apollo dev issue, because nobody cares if they have mod tools. So they are riding off accessibilities issues to make it seem like they have a good cause. The accessibilities thing wasn't even a thing until recently.

I really wonder how this will end. I think if enough subs across all sizes stay private, admin, jannies, and 3rd party apps will compromise and "make everyone happy". This is also the least dramatic ending. However, if nothing happens and this protest goes on for too long with either no balance or not enough private subs, admins will start replacing mod teams. A very dramatic ending.

I'm interested in the outcome myself, just as a casual observer of corporations, suits, and the human carnivore. Spez seemed to be fine with a 2-day blackout. I think jannies are way overestimating just how many users are backing it. Users seem mad about it. I think spez is banking on it blowing over, but as soon as they start taking hits in revenue, I think all these jannies are about to figure out that the only reason they are able to organize and frick with the very platform they rely on is because of the corporations grace and tolerance for it.

Even in that scenario, I still don't see all subs coming back. Smaller niche subreddits may never come back or only come come back via redditrequest, and some like /r/piracy will be banned anyway.

Over 70% are still private lmao

Are over 70% of subs still private? I didn't even think that many went private. It sucks for people like me doing something with hardware and need an answer on something and the only place I find answers is on Reddit from a thread posted a year ago. Aside from the drama, I hope spez forces subs open for that reason.

The only reason I don't think subs will just disappear is because I don't see these powerjannies leaving Reddit at all. They say they will but they are just too upset over this and I don't even know why they are so upset. Reddit has openly said that they will give them bots for free and tools. The jannies seem to be angry just to be angry at this point. People who were truly done with Reddit would just leave. Look at n8. Made a big stink about how he was done and he didn't even last 6 months. These people are addicted to power.

I would not want to be in spez's shoes if he's actually trying to appease the janniods cause they're gigaredditors who won't listen to anything unless it's exactly what they want to hear

All the mod tools will still work, the accessibility thing is a bullshit made up problem, and the api prices are likely being negotiated right now with other apps but none of that will get through to their smooth brains without a giant "win" which I'm not even sure what that would be at this point

The healthiest subreddits - which are also among some of the largest - don't use all of these third party bots and so forth.

They instead have 1) invisible moderators, 2) well-crafted rules, and 3) a tight automod setup.

That's it.

So I wonder why all of the screaming babies in /r/modsupport and Groomercord never seem to explicitly lay out how and *why they use all of those other tools.

Nah, I know why. And so do admins.
