Gimping by 20% is pretty normal. The batteries last a lot longer if you avoid charging to 100%.
People b-word that their phone batteries never last, but it's because they keep rapidcharging and insisting on keeping the thing at 100 all the time. Now phones are trying to counter it by intentionally slow charging at night if you have an alarm set, and discharging to 80% if you leave it plugged in for more than a couple days.
