Do you not know how to draw a circuit diagram :marseyconfused:

I believe that it works, but without a diagram I couldn’t see what was going on for pin 11 :marseyautism:

Pin 1 is 3.3v goes across a 10k resistor to pin 11 Gpio 17 which is pulled high until the button is depressed shorting it to ground. The code activates on the falling edge with a 200ms debounce

Now be fancy and use an IR detector thingy so they can operate it with the TV remote

(It isn't that hard, I've done it. Just make sure the IR thing you buy is tuned for the same operating frequency as the remote you're planning to use, I think is the only obstacle. The IR codes are modulated with a frequency.)

I actually have a really complicated IR environment in my house already. And for example when I change the volume on my TV it messes with my LED light strips. Do you have any ideas on how I might be able to resolve that since you brought up IR

Not sure what type of LED light strips you're using but if they're relatively plain 12-24v with the 4-wire colour control then you can change the IR-controlled power supply for one that has a 433MHz radio controlled power supply.

A lot of cheap IR stuff just uses a default IR chip and remote which has an option to have custom codes programmed into it but because they're cranking this shit out by the zillions few manufacturers bother to reprogram the chip with those custom codes. The end result is that all this cheap crap uses the same IR codes lol (picrel) https://i.rdrama.net/images/16896120128983757.webp

Aliexpress yields results... LED PWM color dimmer might be helpful codewords

Post a pic of what you have if you want more advice

If you want to be ghetto you can construct a shield of some sort around the IR receiver of the LED strips so you have to point the remote right at it for it to work. A bit of PEX plumbing pipe (1/2" dia, 2" len) will work for that. Ugly though.
