I've had the same experience with caffeine- I am very addicted and without it the withdrawal includes a bad headache, serious fatigue, and not being able to think about much else except wanting caffeine. Yet lots of people have told me with a straight face that I am "wrong" and caffeine is not addictive.

:#marseycoffeerecursive::#marseyschizoshaking: Dude, coffee lmao

When you read these reports it's obvious that the stuff is affecting different people in very different ways.

Modern medicine seemingly has no answer as to why certain people will reliably and repeatedly immediately become alcoholics given the slightest drop of alcohol no matter how long they're dry for, and why others can stop and start drinking without it having any effect on them whatsoever.

I think it's potentially more of a psychological effect rather than a physical effect in this case, although the difference in reactions to drugs between individuals cannot be overstated

I've always understood the most simplistic form of addiction as being a direct 'supplement' for something you psychologically or physiologically lack

Basically, are you highly anxious all the time, do you have trouble socializing due to your anxiety? Avoid benzos and alcohol or you'll get stuck on them because they effectively 'fix' a major problem and allow you to feel more 'normal'. That feeling of finally being 'normal' is a very, very dangerous one.

Are you constantly distracted, exhausted, feel like you're stupid or lazy? Avoid stimulants.

Are you in physical pain or emotional pain? Are you emotionally sensitive compared to your peers? Avoid opioids.

Knew a Math major in college who carried around a briefcase scale with a bowl of caffeine powder in it. Loved that crackhead, he liked to do 1500mg and hallucinate.

Caffeine is actually fricked tho lol

The speed at which tolerance builds is ridiculous and people will often end up building up their dose over time without even noticing, the effects are minimally beneficial for most use-cases compared to something like a low effective dose of amphetamines, and it's heck on your stomach - even if you take caffeine pills and not acidic coffee or energy drinks, the caffeine itself stimulates gastric acid secretion.

I've had multiple zoomer friends tell me they were at one point in their life taking 900mg+ daily of caffeine in energy drink, coffee, energy shot, and other forms

And it's socially acceptable for people to use caffeine at a higher level and at a much younger age than most chems - :marseycoffee: sorry sweaty don't talk to me until I've had my double-shot triple mocha expresso supreme monster haha I'm not addicted I'm just SO quirky

A nice cup of black coffee is pretty good though, I used to drink one before going on the 10 mile bus ride to uni since it'd also kill my hunger for the day. I remember once drinking a monster energy zero ultra while playing csgo and I was speaking too fast for them to understand me
