would you recommend going to it or any other security convention? I was thinking that you could learn a lot and meet cool people who'll know stuff but then I remembered the people in my uni's cybersecurity team and I'm guessing everyone will be weirdo's

For networking I highly recommend Bsides. I started with BsidesDC and met the guys that started Mandiant where they got bought by Google for like 5 billion.

Like see if you can get an in as a runner and you can meet some people and make connections if you're super into cyber security.
