>hmmm today I will force users to download and run untrusted binaries at build time

:marseyfacepalm: The binary was written in rust, that means it's safe (not to mention blazingly fast and fearlessly concurrent). Only go and c++ shills will have a problem with this.

I seriously spent 20 years programming before actually getting around to C++ and then fell in love with it. It's fricking cool as frick. Educate yourself about the power of the C++ side. Glory in template-based metaprogramming. Define a virtual void. Pleasure yourself with cross-thread queues that take all the hassle out of IPC. Bask in the comfyness of Visual Studio 2019.

Were those 20 years waiting for Visual Studio to open?

I also like parts of c++ though, there are just way more parts I don't like. Starting a brand-new c++ project is fine but taking over a years long codebase means you probably won't get to use the fun bits but you will have to wrangle with all the jank in the standard.

Also lol murdering your cache with shared_ptr even in single-threaded environments.

Having non-reproducible binaries in vendored dependencies is simply unacceptable.

Isn't the problem with using non-reproducible binaries that you're basically dependent on those same binaries always being available and never changing beyond the version you need them to be?

It's a proc-macro lib, I believe it's only used by the compiler to build your project. It's not actually used in your project.

Dude seems to be making drama for no reason. Just offer a pre-built version and a complete source version for the Nix-tists

I couldn't stand SRD. The cringe there was suffocating. One idiot was whining about /r/drama being a doxxing paradise, others were circlejerking about how the sub leans slightly right but is really moderate. And as you note OP, they all frickin whine about Daddy, altright, and idiots who can't get laid.
