I was going to write a code review off the cuff but there is too much to do in one go so I'll say one thing. Don't merge code from someone who does penetration testing on customer data without a thorough code review.
I'll write a code review in reply to this comment when I'm done reading it all, there are a few minor improvements in style that can be done right off the bat that any second pair of eyes will pick up (indentation errors, nitpick style issues, redundant code, ...).
