Photoshop equivalent of GIMP's merge layer blend mode?

I normally use an open source stack for everything (GIMP, Blender, etc.) but I've found myself in a spot where I need to generate a layered image from a script, and I couldn't find a js library for xcf :marseydepressed:

Luckily GIMP supports PSD, so I was going to use that -- until I realized that I couldn't find the equivalent PSD blend mode of GIMP's merge. The merge blend mode is basically where the opacity (alpha) of the layers are simply added together instead of the more complicated normal formula. I looked in the GIMP source code at the PSD to GIMP mappings and couldn't find anything.

Does Photoshop have an alternative? If not, GIMPchads stay winning :marseysteaming: !codecels

I don't think you understand. I am a foid. Unlike moids, I always have access to s*x, should I want it. If I'm super horny, I have no problems finding a sneaky link to get me off. But s*x is time-consuming and puts me in a vulnerable position, so in general it just doesn't interest me too much unless it's with someone I love (or when im super down bad).

no shit, and I bet you couldn't find a scratch library for uart. Use python.

the project is written in JS and runs in the browser (so JS is the only option). Of course I could build a backend using Python, but i kinda dont want to add that unnecessary complexity. I am ablw to generate PSD files entirely im the browser

browser BIPOCs will have their day soon. :marseyropeyourself: until then just compile the python interpreter to webasm

Thanks for trying. Maybe I should clarify, "Merge" is a TYPE of blend mode, meanwhile the article you sent me is about merging (as in combining) different layers into one. Merge isn't really a great name for it desu, I wouls have called it "Alpha addition" or something like that.

Point is that I'm looking for a blend mode. What you sent isn't a blend mode.

Can't you just adjust the opacity of a layer and change its blending option. I know only how to use functional closed source software

Change the blending option to what, Einstein? We are literally discussing the fact that Photoshop LACKS this specific blending option. I am not sure if anyone knows of the Photoshop equivalent of alpha addition

Yeah, and once I did what blend mode would I use? The point is that Photoshop literally doesn't have this blend mode. Please actually read the question before commenting next time.

I read it, i just misunderstood it :marseyretardchad:

>Luckily GIMP supports PSD, so I was going to use that( <- i thought that meant gimp)

I don't know what you are exactly trying to achieve tbh, but in photoshop there are like 20 blend modes so i guess you can do what you want to do :marseyshrug:
