Apparently this lawsuit was the breaking point.

Foid decided 10 years later to sue the site that allowed her and her abuser to meet. Not sure how omegle is responsible for the actions of the abuser. However, it doesn't matter because it seems omegle doesn't have the means to fight the battle and decided to close shop. RIP.

Here's an excerpt from the founder's final thoughts. This hit me pretty hard and kinda sums up the noticeable decline of the internet.

I worry that, unless the tide turns soon, the Internet I fell in love with may cease to exist, and in its place, we will have something closer to a souped-up version of TV – focused largely on passive consumption, with much less opportunity for active participation and genuine human connection.

Omegle and Kiks respective headquarters should have been blown up in like 2013. Instead we got thousands of now adult girls with a past history of being groomed by adult men

LMFAO we all had unfettered internet access. my mom kind of had cancer so that was the bigger issue. i found cp on tor once when i was 11 and freaked out that the FBI was coming for me

My parents made my siblings and I keep our computer(s) on the first floor of the house, kinda near the middle, so they could easily see whatever we were doing at all times. We were absolutely not allowed to have a computer in our bedrooms, and that rule didn't get relaxed until after we left for college.

As I've gotten older I've come to appreciate that my parents probably knew wtf they were doing.

yeah my mom was super strict at first when my siblings and i first got a computer, but then her condition deteriorated so she couldn't monitor us anymore. and my dad was entirely hands off so he never monitored what i did ever. wish it were different so i wasnt exposed to all the stuff out there but 🤷🏻‍♂️
