i love openai, and everything i've done over the past few days has been in service of keeping this team and its mission together. when i decided to join msft on sun evening, it was clear that was the best path for me and the team. with the new board and w satya's support, i'm looking forward to returning to openai, and building on our strong partnership with msft.

Yudkowskycels and EA dumbfricks take yet another L, right on the heels of the SBF disaster. They're probably the stupidest people in SV. They may even be dumber than the libertarians.
The mystery here is because the Yudkowskycels couldn't corporate intrigue correctly. You are supposed to get some kind of material to backstab your CEO and then leak it to a Taylor Lorentz type in the press. But these supposed “AI experts” (who produce nothing but sci-fi stories about a technology they don't understand and cannot build) couldn't even whip up a pretext for firing Altman. Nobody knows what's happening because the board can't explain itself, presumably because if it explained itself it would be instantly discredited.
All this confusion is because people are primed to see cutthroat tactics and this level of stupidity is truly unprecedented.

Complete and total AI victory, the AI engineers understandably would prefer to keep rotating shapes and get enormous amounts of money for it as opposed to trying to start a Butlerian Jihad that has about as much chance of success as you would have trying to argue countries into not building nukes out of humanitarian motives.
AIsafetycels have had their names recorded and have been moved up a few notches on the future Skynet's kill list.

The EA types have no pull because they're a bunch of circlejerking autists that can't grasp at (or even grasp how to grasp at) social-institutional power worth a darn, but OAI will still be under the boot of the "progressive" culture infrastructure comprised of postmenopausal women and BPD wannabe-activists who, despite all their other flaws, at least knew how to social-game up to "the top"

You are right. The people who believe that AI is an existential threat to humanity have been easily shoved into their lockers and widely mocked. Next up we must prepare to do battle in order to sideline the people who just want to stop AI from noticing certain things. The war is far from over.

It really was the worst idea of all time. They thought they could convince a couple board members not even involved in day to day operations (besides pliable turbo autist Ilya) to do a coup to kill AI without first winning over any employees or anyone actually involved in the company, then 90% of employees backlash and investors are big mad.
Meaning those same employees could leave tomorrow and then your plans to kill AI are not only over but they are accelerated cuz they work at fricking Microsoft or Sam's next startup
Now EA people are gone and they have zero influence on OpenAI
