EU misses the boat on AI :marseysnappy: and copes :marseyseethe: by regulating industry they aren't competitive in

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38579170

Wonder why they won't do something consumer friendly like outlawing restricting access to car diagnostic software only available at car dealerships :marseyhmm:

SIri, show me the migration rates from Europe to the US

Around 180,000 permanent residents from Germany were living in the United States in 2020.

Siri, show me the migration rates of Americans to Europe

American emigration to Europe totalled 3,6 million people in 2005, and 5 million in 2019

Right now I can't even find numbers for other European countries to the US, it's all just European descendant data.

I am sorry about your ignorance, but all the smart and ambitious Europeans are not going to America.

Pick a fricking country !r-slurs you compare migration from one country to here and then apparently us to all of Europe.

US is the size of Europe.

It makes more sense to compare all of Europe to the US than to compare US to a country the size of California.

The European Federation is just 20 years away anyways.

I'm not sure where you got your numbers but they're extremely wrong. US gets more by about a factor of three.

https://www.pewresearch.org/global/interactives/global-migrant-stocks-map

E.g., in 2017 there were 650,000 people from Germany living in the US and 140,000 people from the US living in Germany. Germany is (comically) the best European country so that's probably the most pro-European number and the rest are worse (or tiny).

Discussion:

https://mises.org/wire/3-times-many-europeans-move-us-other-way-around

But absolute numbers aren't even the point. It's that US trash goes to Europe while European cream of the crop goes to the US.

Yeah but :

1. Germany is the largest population country in European Union.

2. The US-Europe migrant flows are far too low compared to general international flows and even Inter European flows.

My numbers and your numbers can be right at the same time. You have to account for most of the countries in Europe being very small, and the West European ones already having finished up with major outflows into the US in the previous centuries and having better options in places like Sweden or Norway.

The problem with your numbers is that the entirety of Europe only has something like one and a half times the population of the US. Comparing the US to only Germany is like comparing New York to Asia.

Yes. The issue is I am having trouble finding up to date data on Europe to US and vice versa immigration.

Wonder why "they" are hiding the data.

My source literally shows outflows from Western Europe to the US are much much larger than outflows from the US to Western Europe. To a first approximation, Europeans move to the US, not the other way around.

You have to be way too online to think anything different. America is the greatest country on earth by several factors. People have been climbing over bodies to get away from their eurotrash counterparts since Indians were scalpng settlers.

I personally know someone who immigrated here from Germany. I have never in my old boomer life ever heard of an American moving to Europe, so I'm a bit skeptical that we've been losing 1% of our population each year for 20 years.

I will let all the data collectors know they are wrong because you know one german but don't know any of your neighbors kids who live in Europe.

It's some European mind control thing their internet influence has going on.

So when you search for stuff about some European country you are more likely to get data about Europe or Germany but difficult to find for all individual nations in Europe without deep search.

That's because Europe's only shining star is Germany lmao. All stats have to be filtered through the eyes of Germany, Denmark and svveden so nobody does any noticing.

What nooticing?

The part where Eastern Europe is turning into a ghost town even while old people keep getting richer?

Or the part where the people still do not realize that South Europe politicians support immigration even in the right wing once they get into power because they know the country would collapse without other people coming in to keep things running?
