This youtuber talked about it before, he used android until he texted one person in the music industry and was told that if you have green text people don't interact with you. Had to basically switch that day to an iPhone.

It's about wealth/social signaling. They assume iPhone = higher value person. It's still going on despite iPhones being common. Even poors can afford them.

it's very r-slurred, but I think it's simply in group vs out group bias. smart phones are the most important thing in millennials and zoomers' lives so this sort of makes sense when you think of it like that.
