Who's fault is it?

Some of the compromised devices had been connected to the open internet with a default password of “1111,” federal authorities say, making it easy for hackers to find them and gain access. Fixing that “doesn't cost any money,” Neuberger says, “and those are the kinds of basic things that we really want companies urgently to do.”

CISA is being way too diplomatic/professional here. If you operate critical infrastructure and you're connecting devices with default passwords to the internet, you're an r-slur. That's an almost criminal level of negligence.

If you've ever worked with industrial electronics it's no suprise tbh. It's not codecels working with this shit. The tradies who install it work for companies/departments with no means of storing passwords for retrieval/reference and many of these devices don't have a means of resetting lost passwords.
