Lots of seethe on Twitter. Discuss the societal implications, and what degenerate thing you're going to make when stable diffusion released their copy in a year!
Also, what will it take for Yann LeCum to admit he is wrong? We'll have AIs that simulate the future and he will still be arguing they aren't intelligent and his model (which is essentially the same thing) is better

The future is going to be so cool
I don't care what anxiety ridden doomers think, this is all net positive. AGI is a pipe dream we're so far from its barely worth worrying about

Terminally online dramatards trying to dunk on silicon valley while they spend half their day using the shit they invented to consome content about cabals working against them
It's not thay complicated, it's just people making shit
Elementary AI isn't going to make yours or other people's life any more pathetic

If you think anything OpenAI is going to put out will make anything about the world any better I have a bridge to sell you.

You're too caught up in the white middle class straggy redditors who like Marvel movies and think new dopamine cycles will ruin them even more. Which is very real. But I still think there's more to life than that and most people want more than that, or more important spend most of their life doing bullshit menial labour which could be redirected to useful things if they had the tools to do so. Film/architecture/literature/law/politics etc etc will all be heavily impacted. Either by productivity gains or shortening time between ideas->real life, in every single industry or hobby on the planet.
the obvious example here is individuals being able to make movies w/o needing a huge studio w/ committees, just a small team of talented people.

AGI is a real risk, and we don't have any idea how far off we are. but these artistic AI tools have nothing to do with that risk.

I'm of the opposite idea. This AI stuff sits right at a weird point where it's not good enough to make beautiful stuff or help us in our lives, but is good enough to produce mountains of scams and shit that drowns the good stuff on the internet.

They said that would happen with GPT and it's been out for 4yrs now and there's very little evidence of a significant shift.

I can't wait until all people do is sit with their VR headset blasting whatever thought they just had into their eyes. It'll be so hecking cool when nobody needs to learn or better themselves anymore because AI does it.
