There is an objectively correct answer in politics tho. It's called whatever I believe in.

Truly the journ*list menace has been with us for all of time, and been hated across generations. I knew my hatred was in part an ancestral memory.

!bookworms, this is exactly why I love the recommended reading list at the end of Mortimer J. Adler and Charles Van Doren's How to Read a Book. It's got all the philosophy and poetry you'd expect, while also including all the mathematics and science a person with a proper liberal arts education should possess. Journ*lists, being drooling !r-slurs who occasionally pretend to possess the ability to turn a phrase, focus exclusively on the trivium and forget the quadrivium is just as important. :marseybluecheck:

>how to read a book

You should just get “how to talk about books you've never read” instead, only book you'll need to read.

I'm gonna let Sister Miriam Joseph, who quite literally wrote the book on the trivium, field this question. :marseynun:

The Liberal Arts

The liberal arts denote the seven branches of knowledge that initiate the young into a life of learning. The concept is classical, but the term liberal arts and the division of the arts into the trivium and the quadrivium date from the Middle Ages.

The Trivium and the Quadrivium

The trivium includes those aspects of the liberal arts that pertain to the mind, and the quadrivium, those aspects of the liberal arts that pertain to matter. Logic, grammar, and rhetoric constitute the trivium; and arithmetic, music, geometry, and astronomy constitute the quadrivium. Logic is the art of thinking; grammar, the art of inventing symbols and combining them to express thought; and rhetoric, the art of communicating thought from one mind to another, the adaptation of language to circumstance. Arithmetic, the theory of number, and music, an application of the theory of number (the measurement of discrete quantities in motion), are the arts of discrete quantity or number. Geometry, the theory of space, and astronomy, an application of the theory of space, are the arts of continuous quantity or extension.
