I run a Synology but they are very anal about having you ONLY use supported hardware or YOU GET NO SUPPORT.

I get it but it's pretty bad when they came out with white label drives with crazy markups.

Also btrfs is pretty crap and only works because Synology patches the shit out of it. I also believe they don't use btrfs native RAID support, they just layer mdadm. ZFS is way better tech.

If we're lucky maybe they'll throw their weight behind bcachefs too.

I think they'd have saved more face if they were honest and said TrueNAS Core was getting the boot from the get go.

They could also add a line saying "This is costing us significantly more money than we get out of it, buy support if this matters to you".
