Kids these days just don't understand the terror of launching a newly pirated game and seeing cmd open and immediately close

Being on rdrama = mental development stunted = from an IQ standpoint equivalent to a child

And thus anyone who you had s*x with is a libertarian. If you have a wife, she's a predator.

This can result in coping in a number of ways, including thinking "I'm an oldstrag and I hate the kids" or "piracy is good"

Please call this helpline number if you want to join a support group for child molestation victims

I remember watching porn on Kazaa on the family computer while my mum was in the house. She started walking upstairs so I tried to close Kazaa but it crashed around the video which was still playing with no option to exit it. I had to turn the monitor off and pretend I was reading a book.

holy shit yes kazaa! And it was web based at first so you didn't have to download the malware to your computer lmao. That's where I went after they shut down napster.

I got banned from downloading Minecraft mods as a kid because my dad installed a virus by clicking an adfly link when he was helping me install it

Bro i got a virus on my family mac because the official adobe flash player had so much adware in the installer. People forget how bad shit used to be with that. Plenty of official companies would ship installers with borderline malicious adware just to make a few extra bucks.

The true :marseyboomer: kid experience is trying to download videos on eDonkey2000 and half the time it's not what's on the title, it's some pirated software pretending to be porn as a ruse, or it's some disgusting anal bondage shit.

But the true pinnacle of being a :marseyboomer: kid is if you were there on The Night of the Thousand MP3s. There was a court order to shut down Napster at midnight but one of us had a T-something line (it's been awhile) so he could actually download stuff relatively fast. So we all sat around and just called out any music we might possibly want to hear in the future to preserve it while we could. That was a defining moment in the lives of everyone in our generation who lived through it.

But I moved from napster to something else. Maybe soulseek at that time.

IIRC there were a bunch of them. Like LimeWire I tried, but it just didn't work, at least not back then. eDonkey2000 was the first I found that really worked. And it let you look through all the files that a user was sharing. The most common thing I saw was Friends. Every fricking European had every fricking season of Friends. I've never had any respect for anyone from that continent since then. I'm hoping it was like... maybe they were trying to learn English... Not that Europe has no culture and has to import it from America and it picks the most vapid r-slurred thing it can.

Imagine not being on Undernet and DALNet simultaneously with two mIRC sessions running Shadowscript and downloading all your shit either from xdcc bots or T1 FTP servers after fulfilling the 2:1 ratio requirement.

My family moved to Rhapsody which was still pretty usable, worked great with MP3 players. Of course then Spotify happened and we never looked back (except for me, I use offline files for my music now).

I went Napster --> Kazaa --> Limewire. I still have Limewire installed on some old laptop around here.

I was in boarding school at the time most people used iTunes to store their music library.

Because the whole school was networked, everyone could download each others shared music (provided the other person was online).

It was out own little music sharing site with about 3,000 users.
