Very based. It always surprises me that so many people don't know how to pirate, not even torrents tbh. Been on it since I was 12 and will never stop :marseyindignant:

whats the point of torrenting in 2024. real question bc theres sites to watch movies/shows where u dont have to download anything

Jump in the discussion.

Games, putting files on mobile devices, hoarder tendencies, and sheer force of habit tbh. Personally I don't trust everything to be available forever online, I've seen too many things slip away forever over the years.

Also stealth editing and stealth deleting. Full seasons of a number of shows require a pirated copy or a hard copy because streaming won't show 'problematic' content.

I remember watching porn on Kazaa on the family computer while my mum was in the house. She started walking upstairs so I tried to close Kazaa but it crashed around the video which was still playing with no option to exit it. I had to turn the monitor off and pretend I was reading a book.

holy shit yes kazaa! And it was web based at first so you didn't have to download the malware to your computer lmao. That's where I went after they shut down napster.

The true :marseyboomer: kid experience is trying to download videos on eDonkey2000 and half the time it's not what's on the title, it's some pirated software pretending to be porn as a ruse, or it's some disgusting anal bondage shit.

But the true pinnacle of being a :marseyboomer: kid is if you were there on The Night of the Thousand MP3s. There was a court order to shut down Napster at midnight but one of us had a T-something line (it's been awhile) so he could actually download stuff relatively fast. So we all sat around and just called out any music we might possibly want to hear in the future to preserve it while we could. That was a defining moment in the lives of everyone in our generation who lived through it.

IIRC there were a bunch of them. Like LimeWire I tried, but it just didn't work, at least not back then. eDonkey2000 was the first I found that really worked. And it let you look through all the files that a user was sharing. The most common thing I saw was Friends. Every fricking European had every fricking season of Friends. I've never had any respect for anyone from that continent since then. I'm hoping it was like... maybe they were trying to learn English... Not that Europe has no culture and has to import it from America and it picks the most vapid r-slurred thing it can.

My family moved to Rhapsody which was still pretty usable, worked great with MP3 players. Of course then Spotify happened and we never looked back (except for me, I use offline files for my music now).

I've been seeing an increasing number of r-slurs across the internet who not only don't know how easy it is to pirate shit, but also are actively against doing it for morals or some gay shit I suppose. I cope by pretending they're bots the music industry created to try to influence the culture.

It's really underappreciated imo just how moralistic culture has become in current year. To the point where people feel they need to defend and financially contribute to objectively evil corps like Disney or something

Bro it is literally easier than ever nowadays to pirate. You don't even need to know how to install bit, mu, etc softwares. Even if you are a total drooling tard, there are more than enough P2P remote servers which let you download whatever the frick you want just by copy-pasting (that's longpressing on ipad for you zoomer !r-slurs) the magnet link.

Even a VPN is optional since you are opening the piracy site for only a couple of minutes till you get the link. And once the link is pasted, you can just go to sleep, wake up the next day and jerk off to whatever hentai VR joi you pirated.

If you're a little sus - go via a VPN

If you're moderately sus - go through Tor

If you're just fricking paranoid - keep a cheap burner smartphone, apply the previous steps just to get that magnet link, send it via a dummy gmail you created on that smartphone to tempmail or some other temporary email service. Copy it from there. Paste it into your remote server. Choose a server which lets you stream so you don't even have to download it.

I mean the feds made the Argentinians (@nuclearshill you were the Argentinian snitch, weren't you?) arrest the operators of Z-lib back in 2022. Z-lib is still up however and moreover Z-lib uses the same repository of files that libgen uses. So the Z-lib guys definitely had access to the contributors of libgen.

That hasn't really stopped anyone from using either Zlib or libgen as a free bookshop
