The thing that snapshot your screen every 5 seconds "for your safety"

It screenshots your desktop like every 10 seconds or something, logs all your keystrokes including passwords, captures every file you edit, every website you visit, literally everything you do on your computer it records and sends all that data to MS.

What possible end user justification is there for feature like this.

End users have no rights

The justification I saw earlier this year was if you accidentally delete a file Recall can bring it back for you. The whole thing seems like a privacy nightmare to me as an end user and from an enterprise perspective it seems like industrial espionage on a global scale.

Sounds like more of a "justification" instead of a real end user case. Microsoft keeps adding "features" that seem like they were cooked up with the original intent of stealing your data to better sell ads.

Yeah I suspect the real justification is MS needs to train their AI on your data and this also gives them a super convenient way to sell you out to the glowies when they inevitably come knocking. Who cares about disk encryption when the OS provider can just play back every single thing you've ever done?

it's an AI gimmick, the "AI assistant" needs access to everything you've ever done on your PC to be useful apparently

logs your keystrokes

I thought the entire point of it was ai decoding of on screen text in order to just use screen shots.

Nope, some jeet at microsoft is going to have access to your banking creds if you let that spyware on your pc.

Let me rephrase that. It doesn't keylog tard.

Unless they changed it between May and now it does log keystrokes. They were storing all the collected data locally in an unencrypted sqlite db.

No it takes screenshots and records all information in the screenshots. They are encrypting the local stores.

Where are you getting your information from?

Too lazy to look for links but it was in some security researcher's analysis of the unencrypted sqlite db from back in May.

In this case it's a thing where Windows 11 screenshots your stuff all the time and records whatever it sees
