True, wasn't thinking about server/backend stuff where they certainly aren't the front runners. But that's why I think they've always had an indifferent if not mildly friendly attitude towards Linux desktop, it's almost zero threat to Windows. Mac is their competition in that space.

Running headless servers on windows is heck though. I can see them attempting to kill Linux as a desktop OS. But it's hardly trivial. It's one of the biggest open source projects ever. All of the big boys (including Microsoft) are using Linux for their back ends. Their work on WSL shows they acknowledge the rising demand for Linux features on the desktop.

They probably benefit from all the free work done on it. There's no way azure servers are running windows
